Queens' crashed out of the Scottish Cup this afternoon in an action packed game versus minnows Kilnockie

All 8000 tickets for this match were issued and Palmerston was buzzing for the first time in a number of years.

The match kicked off early and Queens' immediately took control and made a number of chances, that they really should have taken, chief culprit being Stevie Mallan who was roundly heckled for the misses, even the PA announcer had a go.

Queens' were proving so dominant that the match organisers had to call a halt to the proceedings after the first ten minutes and ask Queens not to play so well. Play then transfered back into the Queens end and Kilnockie's tempremental striker Jackie McQuillan was proving a thorn in the flesh.

Infact it was McQuillan who scored first with an acrobatic overhead kick which was replayed several times to the crowd. Queens responded well and it wasn't too long before Stevie Mallan was supposed to score, Stevie though was just too late to connect with the ball and an unscripted slide by Charlie Adams put the doonhamers on level terms.

The Dumfries men then took the lead, eventually, Stevie Mallan was the scorer this time with a number of attempts at turning the defender and bearing down on the keeper. Stevie managed his normal average, about one in five.

Queens were looking comfortable at this stage but a growing feud between McQuillan and Queens new defender Ian McCall looked like turning ugly.

McQuillan it was who completed the scoring with a turn and shot past Queens keeper Hillcoat, however as the irrepressable McQuillan celebrated his goal words were exchanged and McQuillan was clearly seen to punch McCall, not only once but at least a dozen times. The referee had no choice but to send the fiery forward for an early bath

The match ended 3 - 2 to Kilnockie who now go on to a semi final against Kilmarnock at Rugby Park next weekend.
