Derek Townsley Another major signing, big "Degsy" is the tallest player in the squad at 6'4". Proved to be "bargain of the year" when he was signed for £10,000 from local non-league side Gretna in 1996. His height has proved a great advantage although he is also very skillful on the ground with his slick passing. Loves to get to the goal-line and causes problems to defences with his "cut-backs". Was one of the nominations for Second Division, "Player of the Year", last season. Degsy lives in Carlisle and works as a postman.

Jim Thomson A commanding central defender who joined Queens from Stenhousemuir last season for a £17,000 fee. Very dangerous in the air, and possesses great skills with both feet. Probably one of the best signings the club has made and was voted Queens', "Player of the Year", last season. During the summer he attracted the attention of clubs both North and South of the border, including Hibernian. A former Campsie Black Watch centre half who spent most of his senior career with Clyde. Jim is also a low handicap golfer and works as a salesman for a breathing apparatus firm and lives in Kilsyth.
