Members of the Internet Fan Club can award players marks out of ten for their performance today. The player with the most points awarded in the two days following a match will be the IFC Man of the Match. All of the points will then be added to a running total for each player and the results published in the mom League Table.

With the cheers from the Scottish Cup semi-final victory still ringing in their ears the Queens players would have been forgiven by many if they had shown a little less than full concentration tonight. However this squad are a professional bunch and they ended up despatching Partick Thistle by two goals to nil in what was a largely evenly contested game. Gordon Chisholm gave Jamie MacDonald and Andy Aitken a rest whilst Paul Burns completed his suspension. Coming in for the trio were Stephen Grindlay making his third start of the season, Craig Reid at right back allowing Ryan McCann to take up the berth of Paul Burns and Jim Lauchlan returned from injury to partner Jim Thomson in the centre of defence.

With a rather disappointing crowd of just 1,702 in attendance Queens kicked off on what was a bitterly clod April evening. Stephen Dobbie was first to show as he tormented the Partick defence, making space for himself he managed a couple of efforts with Tuffey in the Partick goal fumbling one that fell free but had no blue shirts following up to capitalise. Stevie Tosh was in command of the midfield and broke away on five minutes, his quick thinking gave Sean O'Connor an early chance but the big striker ran just a touch too wide and had to wait on support arriving. The ball was fed into the box where Ryan McCann nodded it back to Stephen Dobbie whose shot was well taken by Tuffey. O'Connor was then unlucky with a glancing header from a great Ryan McCann ball in from the right but again Tuffey was well positioned and managed to gather without too much fuss.
The game settled down to a midfield battle for the remainder of the half with neither 'keeper being seriously tested. Half time saw Sean O'Connor rested and John Stewart introduced to great applause from the crowd following his heroics on Saturday. Inside the first few minutes of the half Stephen Dobbie produced another piece of magic as he worked an opening on the right hand side of the box and fired an effort that had Tuffey wrong footed, however the keeper made an unorthodox save with his leg whilst still standing to deflect the ball out of play. With a quarter of an hour gone Queens took the lead and it was John Stewart again who produced the goods as he reached a Stephen Dobbie ball at the front post before Tuffey could get there and bundled the ball over the line and into the back of the net. The Thistle defenders appealed to the referee for an infringement but he was not to be swayed this week. |

Queens now had their tails up and Brian Gilmour was introduced in place of Jamie McQuilken immediately after the goal. With half an hour of the first half played Stephen Dobbie was the provider once again as his hard work in the box won him the ball which he turned back to Bob Harris on the edge of the box, Harris looked up and smashed a shot between Tuffey and his near post to conclude the scoring for the home side. Again a substitution followed the goal as John O'Neill was introduced and Ryan McCann rested.

The only scare for Grindlay came with ten minutes left as a Stevie Murray cross was won at the second attempt following a wrestle with a Partick forward. The big 'keeper had no trouble though and managed to keep his goal comfortably intact. And that was that a solid no nonsense display where this time we got the result we deserved against form boss's Ian McCall's side.
