Queens' got back on track this afternoon in the most emphatic of ways. Gone was the lack of desire exhibited at Shieldfield Park in midweek, in its place was a confident and positive attitude throughout the team.

The crowd of 630 seemed to be largely made up of Doonhamers and this undoubtedly spurred the team on. Worries about the strength of the defence proved unfounded despite the loss of both Lilley and Rowe with the back five keeping a clean sheet and gelling well together in their first game in that combination.

The first half saw Queens dominate and it was no surprise in the sixteenth minute when youngster Bryan Caldwell netted the opening goal from close range following a cross from the left. More chances came and went, in particular Stevie Mallan missed a great chance just before the break and both Paul Harvey and Bryan Caldwell combined to set up Caldwell but with only the keeper to beat the youngster shot wide.

The second half saw Hamilton come back into the match and they dominated for the first twenty minutes of the second half. Co-managers Rowe and Eadie played a double hand and put on both Findlay and Bailey to pep up the midfield and forward line. This paid dividends later in the game as first Baileys' header came back off the bar for Findlay to crash home in the eightieth minute and then another Lee Bailey header came back off the bar at the death which the predatory Stevie Mallan buried with glee.

All in all a very satisfactory performance against a team tipped for promotion, which should set the team up in a positive frame of mind for this midweek's clash in the CIS League Cup versus Hearts.
