The player with the most points awarded in the two days following a match will be the IFC Man of the Match. All of the points will then be added to a running total for each player and the results published in the mom League Table.

MATCH SUMMARY

Another game of two halves today, only this time, unlike the last home match versus Clyde, we managed to score the equaliser we deserved and almost went on to snatch victory from the Lanarkshire side.

The side lined up with one new face, in came new signing David Craig at left back with Tommy English moving up the pitch to left side of midfield to replacing the injured Steve Bowey. The bench saw two changes as out went the Under 19 lads and in came returning injured players Eric Paton and Emilio Jaconelli.

With a gusty wind in favour of the visitors in the first half it was they who edged the half and went in leading at the interval. The goal coming from a corner that Colin Scott came for but never looked like reaching, the ball falling onto the toe of right back Geordie Todd Lumsden who clearly enjoyed his first goal of the season for the Accies. That was about it for the first half with only an early Stephen Payne shot and a Jim Thomson header from a corner causing any sort of goal mouth action for the home side in that period.

The second half was an altogether different affair with Queens taking the honours this half. Early on David McNiven was fed the ball in the penalty area as he likes and with his back to goal he made himself space to fire an effort goalward that 'keeper McEwan looked to be struggling to get to before Ricky Waddell intervened with a diving header to intercept. Ten minute sin and it was McNiven again with his back to goal but this time attempting a spectacular overhead kick that cleared the bar.

Fourteen minutes into the half and Queens got what they were looking for as David McNiven was brought down on the edge of the box as he drifted across the 'D', the culprit being Ryan Blackadder who had another typically 'robust' day in the middle of the Accies midfield. Revenge was sweet though as McNiven got up to take the free-kick himself and after an age whilst the referee tried to move the wall back McNiven struck. His shot went around the wall and in past the despairing McEwan in the Accies goal down at his left post.

Immediately Queens made a change with Eric Paton replacing Stephen Payne in a straight swap, Paul Burns remaining at right back where he had to work hard today as Mark Corcoran gave him a tough time all game. For a few minutes Hamilton came back at Queens and a glorious chance was passed up as the ball flew across the goal mouth with Colin Scott and his defenders mesmerized by it but not a Hamilton player in sight.

Another change was called for and Emilio Jaconelli received a rousing reception as he took the field for only the second time this term replacing Tommy English. The swap on the park being Jaconelli for McLaughlin with McLaughlin moving across to the left wing position vacated by English.

Queens pressed for the remainder of the half with the best chances falling to David McNiven with a spectacular turn and shot that McEwan somehow managed to beat away for a corner, and another McNiven effort following a corner that the 'keeper again managed to beat away. Eric Paton too had an effort which was deflected and spun toward goal with the 'keeper just making it back in time to gather at the second attempt. In the last few minutes Chris Armstrong was given a run but in reality it was too late for anyone to make any difference and the whistle blew very soon after the big man came onto the park.

In summary the point could easily have been three and we need to be putting away the chances that we make, particularly at home. Still never mind two away games next so if we just continue our away league form for a couple of weeks.......
