MATCH SUMMARY
The bad news pre-match today was that Gordon Chisholm wouldn't be able to field the same side that had looked so good on the travels to Peterhead and Clyde, the reason was that Paul Burns failed to make it due to injury and this meant a shuffle in the midfield. Jamie McQuilken was drafted back in and took up the left hand side of midfield whilst Brian Gilmour moved across to take up the missing Burns' position. The loss of Burns saw a return to the squad for Scott Robertson.

Queens started brightly enough and looked to threaten the visitors goals early on. Brian Gilmour worked his way to the left hand side of the box and managed to lift a cross for Stephen Dobbie to connect with as he flicked the ball toward goal. Somehow though Jonny Tuffey managed to throw himself across his goals to turn the effort away for a corner. The save only spared the visitors for a matter of seconds though as the resulting corner was flicked on and found the predatory Stephen Dobbie at the back of the box, Dobbs doesn't need an invite and cooly despatched the ball into the net to the delight of the home crowd.

Tuffey pushes Dobbs' effort wide

Dobbs nets early on - from Rob Campbell on the teracing
It was almost two within five minutes as a free kick on the edge of the box was laid into the path of Steve Tosh, his effort was again well saved by Tuffey but as the ball came off the 'keeper it almost landed at Sean O'Connor's feet on the edge of the six yard box from where it would have a tap in for the big striker.

Despite the early dominance of the home side, Partick still posed a threat and it was only a little bit of luck that prevented them equalising on twenty five minutes as a cross ball was intercepted by Jim Thomson at the feet of Jamie MacDonald, the two of them fortunately managed to get the ball safe.

On the half hour Jamie McQuilken should have done better than fire across the face of the Partick goal as he was set up by Stephen Dobbie, it was a miss that could have settled the match for Queens. Then just after the half hour Stephen Dobbie had the ball in the net only for it to be disallowed for offside.

The second half was pretty much dominated by Partick as Queens again appeared to be settling for a defensive half to protect the slimmest of leads. Despite that however, Stephen Dobbie almost added a goal after fifteen minutes of the half as he rounded Tuffey out wide and managed to get a shot away on target only for a Partick defender to block inside the six yard box.

Dobbs skins Tuffey
In sixty-three minutes Partick drew level, and it was slack defending that allowed Mark Roberts the freedom to head the ball into the path of Liam Buchanan who didn't hesitate to fire the ball low past MacDonald.

Buchanan strokes in number one
Just five minutes later and a corner to Partick went undefended at the back post as striker Buchanan again had the freedom to pick his spot, this time with his head.

Thanks very much says Buchanan
Gordon Chisholm waited another ten minutes and with his side failing to make any impression he made two changes as David Bingham came on for Stephen Dobbie and Scott Robertson for Brian Gilmour. The two new faces failed to make any difference whatsoever.

As the game played out there were two realistic claims for a penalty to Queens as a handball and a defender climbing over the top of Sean O'Connor could both have been seen as worthy of penalties by some referee's. However neither were 'stonewall' and in reality Partick were worth their win mainly due to an uninspired second half performance from the home side.
